Shawn over at MuckRock has gotten me hooked on researching ALPR usage in South Carolina. As the process has unfolded I’ve needed to submit FOIA requests to dozens of agencies, most of them small cities or county governments.

Less than a year after the massive data breach at the South Carolina Department of Revenue revealed almost 4 million Social Security Numbers and over 3 million bank account numbers, the South Carolina Health Insurance Pool has begun notifying current and previous subscribers that their information has been leaked again.
Each year The State newspaper submits FOIA requests to all state agencies and compiles a database containing salaries of all employees making at least $50,000. This data is then made freely available through a useable but fairly crappy little web interface provided by Caspio.
